Incognito Visitors

Incognito Visitors

There are instances in which Send2CRM either cannot or will not record visitor behavior:

  • Visitor record has been set to ignore status.

  • The web browser does not support local storage.

In these cases form submissions are still possible. Where visitor identification is enabled in the mapping and one of the above situations applies, Send2CRM will automatically flag the visitor record as being incognito. When set, this displays a message on the individual visitor KPIs component.

This flag is automatically removed if Send2CRM receives a visitor behavior update.

Private Browsing

Many web browsers still provide access to Local Storage even when in private browsing mode, and by design do not offer any means of detecting incognito browsing as a privacy feature.

The browser will automatically erase the Local Storage contents. However because Send2CRM cannot detect the private browsing mode, it is possible that visitors who complete a form submission may have behavior data sent to Salesforce. If this is a concern then the Visitor Ignore feature should be configured, perhaps with an opt-in mechanism similar to cookie consent.
