Unattended downloads

In addition to responding to on-demand requests from Client applications, the Downloader service continuously performs two automated tasks. Connection log entries, standard logging, and error notifications are generated as needed to keep administrators informed.

Client applications do not need to remain connected for the service to continue working.

Download queue

Any single file download request is achieved by adding the download to a queue. This queue is continuously monitored and downloads performed for items added, up to the maximum concurrent downloads at once.

Whether triggered by manual request from a Client application or automated availability check, all downloads run through the queue.

Connection refresh

At the configured interval the available files for each Connection are refreshed. Newly available files are automatically added to the download queue.

For Connections that have auto-removal of downloaded files configured, files older than the configured period will also be deleted at this time.

The Connection refresh process will also remove Connection log entries older than the configured period every 60 minutes.
